You Can Do A Tiny Home Bathroom How Many Ways?!?

May 03, 2023

Hey friends,

Last week we talked about main floor tiny home bedrooms and showcased a couple of our floorplans that have them.. yes, we’re looking at you Florence! All the talk about how a main floor bedroom can make going tiny a bit easier, spurred me to think about other areas of a tiny home that can greatly affect your day-to-day living.

I cannot tell you how many times someone has walked into a Teacup Tiny Home bathroom and said “WOW, this is a full-size bathroom!!”. It seems that when you think of a tiny home, everything is in miniature, but it shouldn’t have to be.

Teacups have been carefully curated, tested, and improved over the years to make sure that you don’t have to sacrifice. But they do make you think about what you truly want and need to make your life as incredible as you want it to be.. yes, even when it comes to your bathroom. That means we don’t just have one or two bathroom configurations to choose from, but multiple.

Today we’re going to go over 4 of our most common bathroom layouts PLUS a sneak peak at a bathroom you haven’t seen yet.. with an INCINERATING toilet!

Yes, incinerating.. it burns e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.

When you’re in a tiny home there isn’t an area of the home that is *most* important, every single inch of space needs to perform in ways that you wouldn’t necessarily expect in a traditional home. For example – in a Teacup, the bathroom cabinet typically houses the tiny homes hot water heater. In a traditional home, you’ve got a utility room that would contain your hot water heater and furnace.

We can’t take any space for granted, so we’ve developed a few - in our opinion - pretty freaking awesome bathroom designs to meld the function of the home with how you want to live in it.

ONE

The OG – the perfect bathroom for those who value functionality and efficiency. If you’re the kind of person who prefers a quick and refreshing shower to soaking in a tub after a long day, then this bathroom is for you.

Our standard bathroom features a single shower stall with the option to upgrade to a 42” wide that provides a little more elbow room for lathering up. Both options have ample storage space beside the shower, perfect for storing all your essentials – from towels and toilet paper to extra sheets for your loft bed!

The focus on this bathroom is function and practicality, without sacrificing style or comfort. You’ll appreciate the flow of this bathroom, whether you’re getting ready for work in the morning or winding down after a workout.

If you’re looking for a bathroom that keeps up with the pace of your life, without sacrificing style, you can’t go wrong with the standard bathroom.

TWO

Are you a fan of the practicality and efficiency of the OG bathroom, but you just can’t bear to give up the bathtub? We got you – we’ve got an upgrade that combines the best of both worlds – a bathroom that takes functionality to the next level by adding in a 60” tub with fibreglass surround.

This bathroom is not only perfect for someone wanting to relax after a long day, but also – have we mentioned how amazing tiny homes can be for families? Since a bathtub can often be a necessity for families with younger children we wanted to make sure we have options that work for you. The fibreglass surround makes cleaning a breeze and ensures there’s space for suction cup toy bins and kid shampoo.

Space is at a premium in a tiny home, we want to make sure you have what you need, but we also want to make sure you are going to love it long after you’ve first called it home.

THREE

The bayed bath upgrade. Probably our favorite of the four bathroom options we’ll cover today, it brings a whole lot of spa energy to your tiny home space.

The focus of the bayed bathroom, is, quite obviously, the bay – and for good reason. Having the bay gives you about an added foot of space at it’s deepest AND three windows looking directly out the front of your home.

Is your dream to have a plot of land with no one around you for miles and miles – if it is, seriously consider this bathroom option because having the opportunity to look straight out at whatever landscape you love the most is going to make your day considerably better, every day.

Besides the added space and windows, you’re also going to have a larger vanity with space to sit and storage below.

Honestly.. who even needs a bedroom with a bathroom like this?

FOUR

The luxury bath of your dreams. Even your friends who live in traditional homes and would never live in a tiny home will be jealous of this bathroom.

Building on the incredible bayed front of #3 we’ve changed out the fibreglass surround for tiled walls and a glass partition. Looking out of your windows into the incredible scenery around you is easier than you could ever hope for.

The bathtub is really the centerpiece of this bathroom, perfect for a relaxing soak after hiking, skiing, or even after hanging out in your tiny home kitchen meal prepping for the week ahead. Or imagine sitting at your vanity, enjoying your morning cup of coffee and getting ready for the day, all the while getting to glance out your windows at the gorgeous sunrise.

Also, let me mention that all our bathroom layouts can accommodate a residential flush toilet or a composting toilet!

Now that we’ve gone over the four most chosen bathroom options, here’s a sneak peek at an amazing clients Margo bathroom, which includes the incinerating toilet I mentioned before!

This bathroom was designed specifically for the installation of the incinerating toilet, and we think it came together pretty fantastic. If you don’t know what an incinerating toilet is, here’s a quick run down:

  • They incinerate waste at high temperatures, leaving only a small amount of sterile ash.
  • Four people using an incinerating toilet for a week produces about one teacup of ash!
  • They don’t require a connection to water or sewer systems.
  • They have the same comfort and convenience as a flush toilet, just insert a bowl liner and you’re good to go.
  • They have a high capacity and can accommodate approximately 70 visits before you need to empty the bowl.

Pretty cool, amirite?
